Our ownership is primarily local and our decision-making is entirely local – no big-bank mentality here! We are a forward-thinking community bank that reflects the best qualities of the Bay Area’s rich culture.

We founded BSF in 2005 to meet the need we saw for a forward-thinking, relationship-driven and technology-focused community bank. Whether helping with the purchase of a business, growth of a nonprofit or business, or providing a mortgage on a first home, we are with our clients when it matters. 

We were there for our clients in developing robust mobile banking capabilities. Through technology, today, clients can meet all of their day-to-day needs through our website and app.

Anticipating our clients' need for flexible business financing, we were there with our expertise and creative tools that made us a valuable partner in both conventional and SBA business acquisition and expansion financing.

As the complexity of the Bay Area housing market increased, we were there for our clients and became an accessible residential lender, developing a portfolio residential lending mortgage program, including tenancy-in-common financing. Today, we offer a range of home ownership products to meet the needs of our clients.

As the Bay Area’s nonprofit sector grew, the need for sophisticated services grew as well. Given our Bank’s desire to be a source of expertise and support, we developed customized banking services for Bay Area nonprofits and began offering seminars, training and guidance to nonprofit executives from leading experts in the field.

Over the years, we have grown alongside our communities. We will continue to evolve and be responsive to the needs of the ever-changing Bay Area, and beyond.
